This week's hike was short but sweet.
Deb and I met our other half at their familiar, albeit humble, abode Saturday morning at the usual time. We were immediately greeted for the first time by Kali's youthful abundance, and her playful morning greetings overflowed us all with joy and youthful happiness. It was a nice way to start our weekend, and we are all looking forward to her joining us on our adventures very soon.
We all jumped into Rob's Volvo and headed towards Scotland, armed with directions to park about 31/2 miles south from the junction of RT6 and RT97, which is Pumpkin Hill Rd. The entrance to the Rock Spring Wildlife Refuge is marked by a fairly large wooden entrance sign, but it's hidden behind the trees in such a way that we passed by it twice without noticing it. On our third try we finally located it, and started our walk shortly thereafter.
This week's trail was a short loop, and we took advantage of that by getting in and out of the woods fairly quickly. We snapped our normal pictures, chatted about where we were going to have lunch, and debated about which Starbuck's we were going to end up at. All in all, we hiked about 4 miles, and we were back at our car well before noon.
We had our lunch at CafeNV (with Jody, I might add), and a leisurely, relaxing latte at the Starbuck's across the street. We enjoyed our lattes while sitting outside absorbing the sun. A very happy day was had by all.
See everyone next week!
Joe
